MENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM – RESILIENCE TOOLS IN COMPETITIVE GAMING.

To achieve greatness, we need tools that keep us moving in the right direction. Distractions and challenges along the way can slowly pull us away from our goals.

Nothing in life forces us to relentlessly pursue our objectives. That drive comes from our own expectations—something deeply personal that resonates only with us. Meanwhile, the world keeps turning, often pushing us off course, both intentionally and unintentionally. So, how do we win our battles in such an environment?

Proven techniques for mental discipline have existed for centuries. Napoleon Hill’s philosophy on the power of the mind reshaped the way people approach success. It shows how attitude can drive wealth and achievement. These ideas extend far beyond finance.

In this blog, focused on competitive gaming, we’ll explore mental management systems—unveiling models that support skill acquisition, develop a sustainable competitive mindset, and help you stay sharp under pressure.

With that in Mind, Lanny Bassham developed 8 Principles and Action statement tied to them to positively control our performance.

PRINCIPLE OF MENTAL MANAGEMENT LIST.

  • Principle of Mental management 1 :
    • Our conscious mind can only concentrate on one thing at a time.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 1 :
    • I take control of what I picture, choosing to think about what I want to create in my life.

  • Principle of Mental management 2 :
    • What I say is not important. What I cause to myself or others to picture is crucial.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 2 :
    • I always give myself commands in a positive way. I remind myself that what others are picturing, as a result of hearing me speak, is crucial to proper understanding.

  • Principle of Mental management 3 :
    • The subconscious mind is the source of all power.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 3 :
    • I am so well-trained that all of my performance is subconsciously done. I trust my subconscious to guide my performance in competition.

  • Principle of Mental management 4 :
    • The self-image moves me to do what ever the conscious mind is picturing.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 4 :
    • I realize that my self-image is moving me to perform what I am consciously picturing. I control what I picture and picture only what I want to see happen.

  • Principle of Mental management 5 :
    • Self-image and performance are always equal. To change my performance, I must first change my self-image.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 5 :
    • I am aware that my performance and self-image are equal, This relates to the sixth principle of mental management.

  • Principle of Mental management 6 :
    • I can replace the self-image I have with the self-image I want, hereby permanently changing my performance.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 6 :
    • I am responsible for changing my self-image. I choose the habits and attitudes I want and cause my self-image to change accordingly.

  • Principle of Mental management 7 :
    • The principle of reinforcement. The more we think about, talk about and write about something happening, we improve the probability of that thing happening.
  • Action Statement for Principle management number 7 :
    • I choose to think about, talk about, and write about what I wish to have happen in my life.

  • Principle of Mental management 8 :
    • The self-image can’t tell the difference between what actually happens and what is vividly imagined.
